Altra has launched its new low-drop road shoe, AltraFWD Experience. The company adds that the new shoe continues Altra’s natural foot positioning mission on both road and trail.
“The AltraFWD Experience is all about brand expansion, product evolution and continuing to create shoes that work for more and more runners,” said Altra co-founder, Brian Beckstead.
“Since the start, we’ve been all about creating what people need, and sought to build shoes that work with your body from road to trail. We’ll never stop catering towards the Altra loyalists that are all about zero-drop, but we are super excited to expand our line-up and create a low-drop shoe that helps make Altra accessible to more runners – especially those that haven’t wanted to take the full leap into zero-drop.”
A company release added… ‘Constructed as a performance-forward lightweight shoe, the AltraFWD Experience allows you to run more with a comfortable engineered upper and spacious toe box positioned on Altra’s Standard Footshape Fit.
‘Effort less with rocker shape geometry efficient toe-off [is encouraged] and a 4mm low drop allows for a smooth and quick roll through any stride. The neutral stack heights (men’s 32-28mm and women’s 30-26mm) combined with lightweight, compression moulded foam creates an effortless-performance ride for all runners.’
“I believe there are a lot of benefits to rotating in a 4mm drop shoe that complement the use of zero-drop shoes,” said Altra elite athlete and product tester, Cal Neff.
“Biomechanically, the 4mm AltraFWD Experience will allow for an efficient running form and forward-propelling stance, especially as fatigue sets in.”
With the AltraFWD Experience, Altra is seeking to widen its reach in the market and create a shoe for more runners. The AltraFWD Experience will be available for purchase online at altrarunning.com starting on October 3, 2023, and at select retailers.
The new shoe retails for €150 / £130 and is available in four colourways for both men and women. The weight of shoe is approximately 8.5 oz / 240g (men), and 7.1 oz / 201g (women).
