Event registration specialist njuko has signed a partnership with the Beirut Marathon Association to provide an optimised registration solution designed to help the Beirut Marathon return to pre-pandemic levels of 50,000 entrants.
njuko, which looks after other events around the region and across the Middle East, including the Dead Sea Marathon and Muscat Marathon, will power all Beirut Marathon Association (BMA) races. This includes the new 20.23 Cedar Challenge alongside Reforestation Lebanon and the Beirut Marathon + Women’s Race series.
A key feature of the collaboration was njuko’s ability to integrate the OMT (Outright Monetary Transactions) payment method. This sees a unique integration allowing the residents of Lebanon to enter online and pay for their event places in OMT branches across the country – providing accessibility to the Lebanese people during a financial crisis and allowing BMA to take cash payments with a popular local method of payment.
Another aspect is that it is the first event globally to use the new njuko and GivenGain integration – adding a layer of fundraising to support the BMA’s charity partners.
Matt Trevett, head of the region for njuko, said “The BMA has a unique challenge in the country, and we visited late 2022 to fully grasp what was needed to be done to provide an effective registration technology, localised and with their needs at the forefront.
“On top of this we have found a powerful way to drive new registrations to their events on a global scale to help get them back to where they deserve to be with over 50,000 entrants year on year – a tool that we can also rollout across the industry. At njuko we look forward to supporting their green initiatives, accessible events and taking part ourselves in 2023.”
Beirut Marathon Association is expanding its network to cover challenges, races, and training programs. It has also expanded its training programs internationally to spread the culture of running. The OMT Beirut Marathon, Women’s Race, 542 & 510 Training Programs, Right to Run Youth Initiative, 20.23 cedar challenge and more events will be kicking off this year to bring back the city of Beirut back to life.
Francoise Nehme, Head of Operations at the Beirut Marathon Association said “After a few rough years and what our country has gone through, we are delighted to bring back the spirit to our streets and city with vibrant and cheerful races, all the while, keeping the international standards that we are used to.
“njuko & BMA will be exploring new ways, user-friendly and digitally high-tech platforms to reach more international runners & communities and deliver state of the art services to our runners. We are looking forward to working together with njuko; and thanks to their skilled team of developers, we have been able to implement in record time.”
