L39ION of Los Angeles has launched the first of three new team kits, designed in collaboration with Rapha. The full collection includes Rapha’s recrafted, next generation Pro Team Aero Jersey, as well as a short sleeve off-bike t-shirt.
According to Rapha… ‘The first team issue is all about stripping back the kit, reflecting the simplicity of the team’s original mission when [team founders] Justin and Cory had to fight through the noise and against the odds to build their careers and become icons within a sport not set up for their success.
‘The collection features various symbols as part of the design, each signifying different stages of the team’s story. First and foremost is the lion, a symbol of their fighting spirit. From their hometown in south central LA, to race podiums across the country – their rise always was rooted in tenacity.’
Justin Williams, Team Manager and Co-Founder of L39ION, said “When we were getting started it was about inspiring the next generation and redefining how people saw the sport.
“Mostly it was about doing something different, impactful and fun. Cycling had stopped being fun for us so it was about creating a version that we could be proud of. I was searching for fulfilment.”
The 2023 Legion team issue kit is available in select Rapha Clubhouses and online on rapha.cc, in limited quantities. A portion of profits being reinvested back into the team to help fund their development.
The second and third issues of the team kit will launch later in 2023.
