South Korea based bicycle saddle brand, HUAN, has developed two types of prostate protection saddles. These are claimed to make riding safer and more comfortable.
The HUAN PPS4 Flat saddle is designed for those with large hips or a heavier weight, while the HUAN PPS4 Volume saddle is for those with smaller hips or a lighter weight.
Both saddles feature an ergonomically designed pad under the hipbones, divided into two sections to keep the pudendal nerve from contacting the saddle – helping to minimise saddle pain. Additionally, a U-shaped groove running down the middle of the saddle provides ventilation, ‘creating a comfortable environment for the hips during riding.’

HUAN product developer Kim Yong Ju said “As the weather cools, more people are enjoying after-work and weekend rides for a healthy lifestyle.
“Mid- to long-distance rides can strain the hips and negatively impact male prostate health, deterring some people from taking up cycling as a hobby. We designed the HUAN PPS4 saddles for different body shapes with a sturdier plate for more comfortable hip support.
“For the cushioning, we used a durable urethane pad to extend the saddle replacement cycle, benefiting the environment and the economy.”
