Held on June 23, 2023, Wattbike’s Atom smart bike was chosen for use during the Olympic Esports Finals cycling event in Singapore.
Presented by the UCI and Zwift, the cycling Olympic Esports Finals was made up of eight male and eight female riders – who battled it out at the UCI Esports World Championship in Glasgow earlier this year.
The Olympic Esports Series is a global virtual and simulated sports competition created by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and in collaboration with international federations and game publishers to showcase virtual sports competition.
Zwift, the first platform to be used for virtual cycling competitions, was one of only 10 platforms hosting events at the series finals in Singapore.
The new challenging format in Singapore involved the 16 riders being split into mixed gender teams where they competed in back to back Zwift races. The IOC confirmed that it bought 20 Wattbike Atoms for the athletes to race on, and these bikes were centre stage at the interactive event.

The e-sports event was supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sport Singapore and the National Singapore Olympic Council, with the four-day event giving a stage to some of the world’s leading e-sports athletes, brands and technologies.
