This month, Altra has unveiled its new Escalante 4 and Escalante Racer 2 lightweight road running shoes for daily runs and spadework.
Escalante 4
Altra built the Escalante 4 as a nod to its Escalante 1.5 shoe, with FootShape fit, greater flexibility, and a lighter weight. The new offering has an engineered knit upper for a more sock-like and forgiving fit, with a knit tongue, as with the original Escalante.
The rubber midsole has been evolved for a lighter weight and more flexibility to help feel connected to the road. A new footbed feels more like the Escalante 1.5 and 2.0 shoes, with the same Altra EGO midsole foam for responsiveness and comfort. A roomy toe box help toes move freely with zero drop.
Escalante Racer 2
The lightweight, responsive Escalante Racer 2 is aimed at speed workouts, fast training runs, and race day PRs.
Taking the simplicity and FootShape fit of the Escalante shoe, the Racer 2 road shoe is leaner, lighter, and more responsive. It has an updated engineered knit upper for a breathable fit. Altra EGO midsole foam helps with responsiveness and direct connection to the ground, with a touch of firmness.
The Escalante Racer 2 has a low 22mm stack height for a quick turnover and a roomy toe box and zero drop for a natural running movement.
