The village of Lake Placid and New York’s Adirondacks Mountains played host to the twelfth stop and fifth full-distance IRONMAN triathlon in the IRONMAN Pro Series at the Athletic Brewing IRONMAN Lake Placid triathlon.
Part of the VinFast IRONMAN North America Series, on July 21, 2024, the longstanding IRONMAN event also celebrated its 25th anniversary.
In a day of racing in the Adirondacks, Trevor Foley (USA) and Danielle Lewis (USA) both earned hard fought victories and their first career full-distance IRONMAN triathlon wins, taking home 5,000 IRONMAN Pro Series points and US$18,000 in prize money in the process.
The 2024 Athletic Brewing IRONMAN Lake Placid triathlon saw approximately 86 of the world’s top professional triathletes compete for a piece of the US$125,000 total event pro prize purse, and IRONMAN Pro Series points.
There were also four female professional and four male professional qualifying slots to the 2024 VinFast IRONMAN World Championship, the women’s race taking place in Nice, France on September 22, and the men’s race taking place in Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i on October 26.
