Inaugural La Roche Posay 5150 Salinas Ecuador set for May 2024

IRONMAN has announced that the neighbourhood of Salinas, Ecuador, will host the inaugural La Roche Posay 5150 Salinas Ecuador triathlon presented by Marathon. The Olympic distance event is set to take place on May 5, 2024.

The new La Roche Posay 5150 Salinas Ecuador triathlon presented by Marathon will start with a 1.5km (0.93 mile) swim in the Pacific Ocean. After exiting the water, athletes will take on the 40km (24.85 mile) bike ride on the route towards Mar Bravo before capping off their race with a 10 km (6.2 mile) run through the city of Salinas.

“We are excited to offer this new race location to our 5150 portfolio of races now available in Ecuador,” said Joanna Jordan, Vice President – Managing Director of Latin America for The IRONMAN Group.

“We have worked hard to offer well-placed training opportunities and entry points for new athletes hoping to participate in an IRONMAN event. We look forward to welcoming people from around the world to compete in the new 5150 Salinas Ecuador triathlon and enjoy everything this beautiful South American city has to offer.”

Known for its golden sand beaches and warm year-round climate, Salinas, Ecuador has become a popular tourist destination. The coastal city is located in the province of Santa Elena, Ecuador, which offers up ocean vistas, unique cuisine and numerous activities.
