Held in Canada on the weekend of July 20-21, 2024, the inaugural SAIL Challenge Cap Québec powered by Argon 18 marked Challenge Family’s return to North American triathlon.
The day delivered victory for Jack Moody (NZL) and Valerie Barthelemy (BEL), who established dominance on the fast race course of SAIL Challenge Cap Québec with winning times of 3:40:14 and 4:12:13 respectively.
The SAIL Challenge Cap Québec middle distance course showcased the city of Québec and its surroundings. The day began with a one-lap swim in Louise Bassin. The four-lap bike course led the athletes through scenic routes along the Dufferin-Montmorency Highway.
Athletes experienced an out-and-back ride along the St Lawrence River, featuring views of Île d’Orléans and the city.
The run took participants on a flat course through a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Athletes explored Québec City along quays 21 and 22 of the port, followed by a scenic run along the Rivière Saint-Charles, offering vistas of Île d’Orléans, the St Lawrence River, and its many boats.
The race concluded at the Port of Québec Agora, on the banks of the St Lawrence River, with a panoramic view of the city’s Château Frontenac.
