Details have been announced about a group activation taking place on the afternoon of Monday December 9, 2024 at The Running Conference presented by haku (TRC24).
The activation event, which is one of many highlights of TRC24, is a collaboration between Running Industry Alliance (RIA), Threshold Sports, ASICS and krono:sports.
The event is called ‘Track Stars at TRC24’ and will take place on the outdoor athletics track at the High Performance Athletics Centre (HiPAC) at Loughborough University, a top-end training facility for many international athletes.
Track Stars will see TRC24 attendees take part in a 1-mile relay event (8 x 200m), which will be a nod to the 70th anniversary of Sir Roger Bannister breaking the four-minute mile barrier.
The relay event is a collaboration with Running Industry Alliance (RIA) and three RIA members. Threshold Sports is leading on the main delivery of the overall group activation, with krono:sports leading on the timing elements and supplying race numbers and sustainable medals, and ASICS providing its new NOVABLAST 5 running shoe to trial (launching globally on December 1, 2024), as well as goody bags, prizes, and swag for spectators.
Runners will have to register for a place on a team, with teams being put together randomly, and race numbers collected from the krono:sports desk at TRC24. Further details about the format and how to take part will be sent to all attendees of The Running Conference, and there will be a briefing at the conference also.
Anyone not taking part in the relay event will be encouraged to head to the outdoor athletics track to cheer on participants.
One of the objectives of this activation event is for conference delegates to meet and be active with fellow RIA members of all running abilities, and to network in an environment where movement and connection are key elements.
A maximum of 32 teams will be taking part, and there will be various spot prizes and prizes for the fastest team and relay leg, which will be handed out at a new concept industry celebration on the Monday evening at TRC24.
The conference agenda can be viewed online.
The Running Conference 2024 presented by haku is the largest annual RIA member in-person meet up and features curated content focusing on relevant and impactful topics for the sport and business of running, plus ample industry (B2B) networking opportunities.
The conference is a sellout again in 2024, and new membership applications are now closed until January 15, 2025.
