The Women’s MultiSport Action Group (WMAG) is a new initiative designed to empower and support women in the multisport industry who are members of Running Industry Alliance (RIA) and / or Triathlon Industry Association (TIA). It is set to officially launch at The Running Conference presented by haku on Sunday December 8, 2024.
WMAG will be led by industry leaders Rebecca Richardson, CEO & Co-Founder of Running Industry Alliance (RIA), and Layla Smith, Founder and Managing Director of Aspire and a member of the RIA Alliance Advisory Board ‘Now’.
The action group aims to create a support structure for women across all areas of the multisport business sector, defined as running and triathlon. The core mission is to drive change through advocacy, boost confidence for women professionals, and provide mentorship and networking opportunities for career support and progression.
WMAG will be open to women members of Running Industry Alliance (RIA) and Triathlon Industry Association (TIA).
Rebecca Richardson said “WMAG represents a new era of collaboration and empowerment for women in multisport with RIA x TIA. We believe that through advocacy and shared experiences, we can strengthen the voices of women and build a more inclusive future in this sector.”
Layla Smith added “At WMAG, we are passionate about driving positive change in the industry. This platform is designed to celebrate women in sport, while addressing key challenges by offering practical resources, expert guidance, and a supportive network.
“We are committed to fostering confidence, boosting representation and promoting growth for women working within this industry.”
The first official WMAG social and initial launch will take place during The Running Conference on Sunday December 8, 2024, marking the beginning of what aims to be a supportive journey for women members in the multisport business community.
This event will include collaborative discussions on how to better support women in the sector, along with the formation of strategies and partnerships… ‘with a few inspiring surprise guests at the launch event.’
WMAG will focus on creating an inclusive environment where female RIA x TIA members can navigate their careers, support each other, share their challenges, and celebrate their successes.
Details about initiatives for 2025 and beyond, as well as how RIA and TIA members can get involved, will be announced at the official launch on December 8th.
