ASICS has confirmed the signing of British ultramarathon runner Tom Evans who will now represent ASICS on the trail circuit, and offering his expertise to the brand.
Former British Army Captain, Tom Evans first gained international recognition in 2017 when he secured third place at Marathon des Sables, the gruelling 251km desert ultramarathon in the southern Moroccan Sahara. Despite entering the race on a bet with a friend, his performance marked the highest finish by any European in the event’s history.
Since then he has become a seasoned competitor with a record of pushing boundaries and notable victories under his belt, including top finishes at prestigious events such as the UTMB (Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc) and the CCC (Courmayeur-Champex-Chamonix).
“I’m thrilled to be joining the ASICS Trail Team,” said Tom Evans. “ASICS’ approach to product development and the support they provide for their athletes is unmatched.
“Their caring brand ethos shines through everything they do, which deeply resonates with me. Because as much I like to push myself and set ambitious goals, trail running is about so much more than chasing new PBs.
“It’s about being truly present in the moment, the exhilarating freedom of running in nature, and the community around it. Together with the ASICS Trail Team, I want to continue my journey in the sport I love and inspire others to get a taste of this incredible experience that only trail running has to offer.”
Santiago Martinez Ric, Head of Sports Marketing at ASICS Europe, added “At ASICS, we’ve always believed in the power of sport to unite people and lift spirits. It’s our ambition to partner with athletes who share our values and philosophy.
“Because when you become an ASICS athlete, you join a team that is working together to perform well and bring about positive change. Tom is an extraordinary talent who embodies the characteristics we cherish: dedication, resilience, and a love for the sport that goes beyond individual achievements.
“Tom’s passion for trail running and his ability to connect with the community will inspire many, and we’re excited to see what he will accomplish as part of our team.”
