Consumer electronics brand Shokz has announced one of the world’s leading ultrarunners, Tom Evans, as a brand ambassador. This latest tie-up follows on from Shokz’s recent sponsorship of Scottish middle- and long-distance runner runner Eilish McColgan.
Evans is an advocate of Shokz’s open-ear headphone features, which help to maintain situational awareness when either on the road or on trails. As part of the partnership, he will continue to use Shokz’s range of products as part of his training regime, as he attempts to win the world’s most competitive trail ultramarathon in the world later this year, the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB).
Last year, Tom Evans – renowned for his achievements in ultra-marathon running – became only the second European ever to win the 100-mile gruelling Western States Endurance Run, cementing himself as one of the world’s leading ultrarunners.
A former British Army captain, Evans discovered his capabilities when he entered his first ever ultramarathon in 2017 – the Marathon de Sables, the 251km race across the Sahara Desert. He finished in third place – the best result any European had ever achieved in the history of the race. Turning professional a year later, Evans has since won several prestigious races.
Tom Evans said “I’m thrilled to be part of the Shokz family. The headphones are a total game-changer for me. Whether it’s travelling, racing or training at home, they’ve become a staple of my kit – they’re as important to me as my running shoes!”
Daisy Cong, International Marketing Director at Shokz, said “We’re delighted to welcome Tom as an ambassador. He’s an incredibly inspiring and talented individual that aligns perfectly with our values and ethos. Tom has some big aspirations this year and we look forward to supporting him along the way.”
Shokz is a pioneer in open-ear technology. Using bone conduction or DirectPitch Technology, Shokz headphones transmit sound to ears without obstructing them. They are designed to let users enjoy music and podcasts without compromising on safety and comfort. Shokz headphones are available in various models, such as the OpenRun Pro, the OpenFit and the OpenSwim.
