By Supertri: new Supertri acquisitions boost focus on short course triathlon

Short-course triathlon specialist, Supertri, is expanding its mass participation portfolio with the launch of ‘By Supertri’, a dedicated event brand designed to broaden access to the sport of triathlon.

The By Supertri launch has been marked by the acquisitions of the CapTex Triathlon and the Kerrville Triathlon, two events in Texas, USA, reinforcing Supertri’s commitment to growing short-course triathlon participation.

Over the years, Supertri has built its professional race series, delivering elite competition to a growing international audience with a mission to ‘inspire the competitor in everyone’.

The event brand’s push into mass participation aims to ensure that… ‘participation in triathlon is open to all, from first-time racers to experienced athletes, while maintaining high standards of race organisation and athlete experience.’

Supertri added that… ‘The initiative will provide world-class delivery and inspirational event experiences while retaining the legacy, local traditions and names of the most iconic mass participation triathlons.’

By Supertri will house some of the most recognised short-course mass participation events, including the Chicago Triathlon, Long Beach Legacy Triathlon, and Toulouse Triathlon, which will now be integrated under this new brand.

Supertri CEO Michael D’Hulst said “By Supertri marks the next phase of our rebrand and represents a big step in our evolution to a triathlon community.

“We are shaping the future of triathlon by linking professional racing with mass participation. Through By Supertri, we cater to experienced athletes who want to go fast while also inspiring first-time participants to become lifelong competitors. He continued, “By bringing together high-impact urban events with strong growth potential under one banner, By Supertri transforms the sport. We are dedicated to enhancing the race experience, making it unforgettable and highly attractive and drawing more people to triathlon.

“We will deliver world-class event experiences as an expert global operator but respect that these are local events and embed that into all we do. This is how we expand the sport and elevate it to the next level.”

The Ascension Seton Austin CapTex Triathlon as it will now be known is held in the heart of downtown Austin, and offers a race experience through the city’s streets and nearby Lady Bird Lake. Meanwhile, the Kerrville Triathlon, dubbed the ‘most scenic triathlon in Texas’, provides a race setting in the picturesque Texas Hill Country.

Both events complement Supertri’s strategy to expand its footprint in key metropolitan and destination race markets.

The By Supertri 2025 race calendar includes:

  • Ascension Seton Austin CapTex Triathlon – May 26
  • Long Beach Triathlon – July 20
  • Chicago Triathlon – August 23-24
  • Kerrville Triathlon – September 27-28
  • Toulouse Triathlon – October 5

Supertri’s business expansion is supported by Astero Partners, with Alexis Nohen serving as an advisor for the acquisitions. Supertri adds that it is continuing to explore opportunities to expand the By Supertri series, bringing world-class mass participation experiences to more communities globally.
