This year’s edition of Challenge Xiamen will take place on Saturday, November 1, bringing middle-distance triathlon racing to the Huandong Romantic Coast at Tong’an Bay in southeast China.
A total of 27 professional athletes are confirmed to race across what Challenge Family notes is one of fastest and most scenic coastal courses in Asia.
The race is built around a traffic-free coastal course designed for speed:
- Swim: A 1.9km swim in the calm waters of Tong’an Bay.
- Bike: A 90km ride along a dedicated coastal track.
- Run: A 21.1km run with panoramic views of the sea.
Challenge Xiamen continues to grow as a key race on the Challenge Family calendar. The event weekend also features Olympic and sprint distances, as well as a duathlon.
The pro men’s start list features a strong line-up, led by established international athletes and Challenge Family regulars.
Ognjen Stojanović (SRB) heads the field. His consistency in 2025 is notable, with 10 races this year, including seven Challenge Family events and four podium finishes. He is expected to be a key contender.
Another strong threat is Sam Osborne (NZL), who has achieved two podium finishes from his seven races this season. Kieran Storch (AUS) will also be looking to secure the win. Other athletes to watch include Jonathan Guisolan (SUI), Nicholas Free (AUS), and local favourite Hao Miao (CHN), who will be seeking a strong performance on home soil.
The women’s pro race is equally competitive, featuring a mix of returning champions and high-performing athletes from the 2025 circuit.
Returning champion Alanis Siffert (SUI) leads the field. The 23-year-old has had a breakout year, securing five victories from ten races, including Challenge Taiwan Half, and a third-place finish at Challenge Roth.
Consistency throughout the season makes Amelia Watkinson (NZL) a threat, entering the weekend with three podiums, including second at Challenge Samarkand. Meanwhile, Sara Perez Sala (ESP), who recently won Challenge Samarkand and was runner-up at Challenge Sir Bani Yas, will aim to carry that strong recent form into the race.
The field also includes Chloe Hartnett (AUS) and local favourite Wang Siyu (CHN).
