The Elite Trail Team (ETT), a trail and mountain running team, has partnered with TrailSkin, a UK-based company that manufactures anti-chafe and skincare products for endurance athletes.
The Elite Trail Team is made up of 14 elite athletes from across Europe who compete in some of the world’s toughest races.
According to research cited by TrailSkin, as many as 40% of athletes report suffering from blisters during an ultramarathon. TrailSkin’s all-natural balms and salves are designed to prevent chafing, reduce blisters, and support skin recovery.
Doug Stewart, Founder and Performance Director of the Elite Trail Team, said “When you’re racing for hours, especially in wet weather or high heat, skin issues can turn into race-ending problems. TrailSkin helps keep our athletes comfortable and protected so they can focus on performance.”
He added that he believes reducing the rate of perceived exertion in a trail race leads to improved performance, and that TrailSkin is a key element in helping the team achieve this.
