Elite Trail Team partners with Train.Red on real-time muscle oxygen monitoring

The Elite Trail Team (ETT), an international trail and mountain running squad, has partnered with performance technology company Train.Red to integrate real-time muscle oxygen monitoring into its training programmes.

Train.Red provides wearable muscle oxygen sensors that use Near InfraRed Spectroscopy (NIRS) to deliver live monitoring for athletes, coaches and sports scientists. The devices are designed for field use, allowing athletes to track oxygen saturation in their muscles during outdoor trail runs, treadmill sessions or strength training workouts.

“In our fast-growing sport, using the latest science-based technology and data insights is what will give athletes that competitive edge,” says Doug Stewart, Founder and Performance Director of ETT.

“The portability and reliability of Train.Red devices makes them a perfect fit for the demands of trail running, allowing us to then gather valuable insights from athletes’ training sessions and further tailor their training plans accordingly.”

Wout Kregting, Co-Founder of Train.Red, added “Partnering with the Elite Trail Team allows us to gather useful data from athletes who push their limits in diverse and demanding environments.

“Our muscle oxygen sensors are designed for field use, helping trail and ultra runners get real-time data, regardless of where they’re training. We’re looking forward to seeing how this real-world application develops and supports athletes in achieving peak performance.”

ETT already works with platforms such as TrainingPeaks and Hexis for personalised programming and with Nduranz for fuelling strategies. The addition of Train.Red aims to deepen its evidence-based approach to elite endurance performance.
