IRONMAN has announced the addition of a new 5150 triathlon in Chile that will join its international circuit in 2026. The inaugural 5150 Coquimbo triathlon is set to take place on October 4, 2026.
The event will welcome athletes from around the world to experience the 5150 race format against the backdrop of the port city of Coquimbo in Chile’s Coquimbo Region.
The 5150 triathlon features the standard Olympic triathlon distance of a 1.5km swim, 40km of cycling, and 10km of running.

Coquimbo is a bustling port city in northern Chile’s Coquimbo Region. It is known for its maritime heritage, culture, and coastal landscapes.
IRONMAN adds that the city blends history and modern charm, with highlights such as the Cruz del Tercer Milenio overlooking the shoreline, and the picturesque English Neighborhood.
The race begins with an open-water ocean swim off the city’s main beach. Athletes will then take on a hilly bike course heading north along Route 5, combining elevation changes with views of the coastline.
The day finishes with a fast, flat run along Coquimbo’s Costanera, where spectators will line the route to cheer athletes toward the finish line, located at the beach.
