Michael Matthews guests on latest Sigma Sports Cafe Ride

This year’s first episode of the Sigma Sports Cafe Ride series sees Australian professional road and track cyclist Michael Matthews take Matt Stephens on a recce of the final 30 kilometres of Milan Sanremo.

After a lap of Monaco, at the legal speed limit, Matthews takes Stephens to the foot of the Cipressa where the duo climb two of the most iconic hills in cycling, giving an insight to how the gradient feels on Milan Sanremo race day.

As one of the five cycling Monuments, Milan Sanremo is a firm favourite on the calendar of many cycling fans, because the race is usually decided by how the favourites attack on those final 30 kilometres.

Team Jayco–AlUla rider Michael Matthews is one of the fastest men in the pro peloton, with multiple wins at all three grand tours in his palmares.

During the latest Sigma Sports Cafe Ride episode Matthews is seen tackling the Via Roma at rush hour. Launched in 2019, the Sigma Sports Cafe Ride series combines a casual bike ride and a coffee with spontaneous conversations from guests across the sporting community.

Hosted by Matt Stephens, the interview gives guests the opportunity to open up, discuss their illustrious careers and share their love of cycling. Accumulating millions of views on YouTube, the Sigma Sports Cafe Ride is one of the most popular cycling series online. Previous guests have included Tadej Pogacar, Tom Pidcock, Mark Cavendish, Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig and Sir Bradley Wiggins.
