Challenge Family has announced the return of Challenge Forte Village in southern Sardinia, Italy – with middle and sprint distance racing back on October 25-26, 2025.
Originally the Forte Village Triathlon, which had its first outing in 2013, the first Challenge Forte Village Sardinia took place in 2014. It was subsequently dropped from Challenge Family’s international event roster.
“We are pleased to start an exciting new partnership with Challenge Family,” said Challenge Forte Village Sardinia Race Director, Andrea Metasti.
“For over a decade, Forte Village has had a strong and enduring connection with triathlon, that has grown stronger year after year.
“We have always believed in the power of international sporting events to extend Sardinia’s tourism season beyond the summer months while showcasing the island’s breathtaking beauty and unique charm to the world.”
Metasti continued “With its mild Mediterranean climate, stunning natural landscapes, exceptional race courses, and warm hospitality, Sardinia is truly a year-round sports paradise. It is also a must-visit destination for those accompanying the athletes: beyond the thrill of competition visitors can immerse themselves in the island’s wealth of history, rich traditions, vibrant culture, and extraordinary archaeological heritage.
“We are thrilled to welcome the Challenge Family back to Forte Village and Sardinia for this incredible event and look forward to an unforgettable week of racing and celebration with all the athletes and their families.”
Challenge Family CEO, Jort Vlam said “We’re delighted to return to beautiful Sardinia and to once again partner with Forte Village Resort.
“Challenge Family events are not just about putting on a world-class race but are also chosen for their overall destination experience for athletes and their families. As one of the most beautiful Mediterranean islands, Sardinia delivers this in bucket loads.
“In addition, the team at Forte Village share our strong commitment to ‘all about the athlete’ and creating unforgettable memories for everyone involved.”
The middle distance Challenge Forte Village Sardinia starts with a one-lap 1.9km swim in clear water off the Forte Village Resort beach. Athletes will then take on a single lap 90km bike on fully closed roads through Pula, Domus De Maria, Teulada and Sant’Anna Arresi.
The bike course is technical, including a long 7km descent, and features a coastal section along one of the world’s most scenically renowned roads. The final two-lap 21km run is along Santa Margherita di Pula beach, passing the ancient Cala d’Ostia tower, before finishing in the heart of Forte Village Resort.
