Challenge Peguera–Mallorca returns to the Balearic Islands in Spain this month with a reportedly sold-out field, featuring more than 60 professional athletes and over 1,300 age group participants.
The popular event takes place on Saturday, October 18, with the professional start scheduled for 09:00 CEST.
Alongside the professional race, an age group field of over a thousand athletes is taking part, with many combining the competition with an end-of-season stay on the island.
Challenge Peguera–Mallorca offers an event atmosphere that extends beyond the main race, featuring side events such as the Junior Challenge, Women’s Run, Nit de Foc, Rock Concert, and the traditional Pasta Party and After Race Celebration.
The event’s combination of challenging terrain, coastal scenery, and local support led to the event being named Challenge Family Race of the Year 2024.
Women’s pro field
The women’s professional field includes European Middle Distance Champion Lena Meißner (GER), who makes her first Challenge Family appearance after moving from short-course racing last year.
She is joined by Daisy Davies (GBR), who has had a strong season with a victory at Challenge Almere–Amsterdam in her long-distance debut and second place at The Championship. Other athletes to watch include:
- Anna Bergsten (SWE), a returning favourite after finishing second at Challenge Vieux Boucau last year.
- Lisa Gerß (GER), winner of Challenge Herning 2021.
- Marta Bernardi (ITA), a familiar face on the Challenge Family circuit.
Men’s pro field
The men’s professional race is equally competitive. The start list includes:
- Jonathan Wayaffe (BEL), who finished third at Challenge Salou earlier this year and won Challenge Barcelona last season.
- Ognjen Stojanovic (SRB), who enters with nine races already this year and three Challenge Family podium finishes.
- James Teagle (GBR), who finished second at Challenge London in 2023.
- Alessio Crociani (ITA), winner of Challenge Cesenatico, known for his ability to perform across both short and long distances.
- Rafael Lukatsch (AUT), who narrowly missed the podium at both Challenge Walchsee and Challenge St Pölten.
