Smart helmet brand UNIT 1 and DJ Dom Whiting, known for his viral ‘Drum & Bass on the Bike’ series, are joining forces to transform the streets of London into a moving wave of light and rhythm this month.
The event, ‘Own The Night’, will take place on November 28, starting at 18:00 at Pub On The Park, London Fields. It will bring together hundreds of riders for a night ride that merges nightlife, music, and urban mobility in a celebration of visibility.
The ride will be led by Dom Whiting, who will DJ live from his bike, guiding participants through a curated route across the city. Riders are encouraged to bring their own lights or smart helmets to turn the streets into a light show.
UNIT 1, which designs smart helmets and cycling gear, stated that the partnership highlights the importance of visibility at night when most crashes happen. The company added that its smart helmets turn riders into bright, unmistakable figures on the road.
Sofia Celaá, Marketing Manager at UNIT 1, said “Most crashes happen when riders aren’t seen. So instead of just talking about safety, we’re demonstrating it at scale.
“We want the whole city to see what happens when hundreds of riders light themselves up together. Own The Night is more than an event; it’s the start of a culture where riding after dark feels powerful instead of risky.”
DJ Dom Whiting added, “I’ve always wanted my rides to bring people together through the love of music and bikes. Partnering with a helmet brand is something I haven’t done before, and to do it with UNIT 1 is fantastic.
“Not only will we be raising awareness for helmet safety but, we will also be lighting up London in a very special way on Friday, November 28th.”
While London marks the first edition of ‘Own The Night’, UNIT 1 and Dom Whiting are already exploring ways to take the event to other international cities.
