USA Triathlon confirms dates and locations for 2026 National Championships

USA Triathlon has announced the dates and locations for its 2026 USA Triathlon National Championships season, comprising 12 events across the USA.

The championships offer amateur athletes the chance to compete for national titles and qualify to represent Team USA at the 2027 World Triathlon Age Group World Championships.

The 2026 championship season begins with the Winter National Championships in Lake Placid, NY, on February 5–8. Hosted with the Empire State Winter Games, the event includes Winter Triathlon and Winter Duathlon races, with finishers qualifying for the 2027 Winter World Championships.

The calendar includes a wide variety of multisport formats. A summary of the 2026 National Championships is below:

  • Winter National Championships
    • Lake Placid, NY | February 5–8
  • Collegiate Club National Championships
    • Gulfport, MS | March 26–28
    • Hosted by CLASH Endurance, this event features Olympic-Distance, Draft-Legal Sprint, and Mixed Relay races.
  • Cross National Championships
    • Austin, TX | April 18
    • Hosted by Race Revolutions, it features Cross Triathlon and Cross Duathlon with qualification available for the 2027 World Triathlon Multisport Championships.
  • Multisport National Championships Festival
    • South Haven, MI | May 13–17
    • Hosted by Tris4Health, this event is a celebration of multisport formats, including Standard Aquabike, Standard Duathlon, Aquathlon, and various Draft-Legal and Super Sprint races.
  • Youth and Junior Cross Nationals
    • Pelham, AL | May 16
    • Hosted by XTERRA Oak Mountain, the event includes categories for athletes aged 10–15 and 16–19.
  • Military and First Responders National Championships
    • Hammond, IN | June 7
    • This is the fourth time Leon’s Triathlon has hosted the event, honouring Active Duty Military, Veterans, and First Responders (Police, EMS, Fire) in both Olympic and Sprint distances.
  • Long Course National Championships
    • East Freetown, MA | June 13
    • Held at the Patriot Half, athletes will race for national titles in Long Course Triathlon, Long Course Duathlon, and Long Course Aquabike, offering qualification for the 2027 World Triathlon Multisport Championships.
  • Youth and Junior Nationals
    • West Chester, OH | July 31 – August 2
    • Held in West Chester for over 10 years, this event includes draft-legal races for junior athletes and non-drafting races for youth athletes, plus a mixed relay. It also features dedicated categories for paratriathletes and athletes with other impairments.
  • USA Triathlon Nationals
    • Milwaukee, WI | August 7–9
    • This features the qualification-based Olympic Triathlon and Non-Draft Sprint Triathlon National Championships. Non-qualification races include the Open Water Swim, Draft-Legal Sprint Triathlon, and Mixed Relay. Here, athletes can qualify for the 2027 World Triathlon Championship Finals in Hamburg, Germany.
  • USA Triathlon Paratriathlon National Championships
    • Milwaukee, WI | August 9
    • Held in conjunction with USA Triathlon Nationals, this event offers US elite and development paratriathletes the opportunity to race for national titles.
  • Ultra National Championships
    • Penn Yan, NY | August 16
    • Hosted by the Peasantman Steel Distance Triathlon, athletes compete in the ‘ultra-distance’, which consists of a  swim,  bike, and a run.
  • Gravel National Championships
    • Lincoln, NE | August 21
    • Held with the long-running Gravel Worlds cycling event, the championships will include both gravel triathlon and duathlon race options.

Many of the 2026 USA Triathlon National Championship events do not require qualification for age group athletes.
