World Trail Majors has announced that its 2026 season will focus on consolidation and stability following a period of growth. After expanding to 24 races and introducing its Short Series in 2025, the association of ultra- running events has decided not to add any new events to the upcoming calendar.
The 2026 schedule will feature 10 events across four continents, as the Swiss Canyon Trail and the Grand Raid des Pyrenées depart from the series. Despite the reduction in race numbers, the organisers intend to increase the visibility and communication of the remaining events.
A slight revision to the scoring system has been introduced for 2026. While the series seeks to remain inclusive by allowing all runners to score points, only an athlete’s best two results will count toward the final standings. For tiebreakers, the average of both ITRA ratings will now be used, replacing the previous system that only considered the higher of the two scores.
The 2026 season will begin on January 22, 2025 with the Anta Guanjun Hong Kong 100. The 2026 schedule includes the following events:
- January 22 – Anta Guanjun Hong Kong 100, Hong Kong
- February 14 – Black Canyon Ultras presented by Hoka, Arizona, US
- March 4 – The North Face Transgrancanaria, Gran Canaria, Spain
- April 17 – Mt. FUJI 100, Japan
- April 17 – MIUT – Madeira Island Ultra-Trail, Portugal
- June 13 – South Downs Way 100, UK (organised by Centurion Running)
- July 3 – Quebec Mega Trail, Canada
- September 18 – Vietnam Mountain Marathon presented by Kailas Fuga, Vietnam
- October – Grampians Peaks Trail 100 Miler, Australia
- November – RMB Ultra-Trail Cape Town, South Africa
Established in 2024, World Trail Majors is a non-profit association of independent races. According to the organisation, its goal is to safeguard the original spirit of trail and ultra running by promoting cultural diversity and environmental care.
