UK-based fundraising platform givestar has launched a new campaign aimed at marathon runners across the United Kingdom. The ‘Run a Marathon. Fundraise. Get £100’ initiative provides runners with a £100 voucher for online retailer Pro:Direct if they raise a minimum of £200 for charity.
The campaign is applicable to participants in any organised marathon, such as the London Marathon, Brighton Marathon, Manchester Marathon, and Edinburgh Marathon. To qualify, runners must create a fundraising page on the givestar platform and apply the promo code MARATHON2026.
According to the fundraising platform, the campaign is designed to reward the effort runners put into their training and fundraising while assisting charities in increasing their revenue. The £100 Pro:Direct voucher can be used for running shoes, apparel, or sports tech.
Alex Coleridge, Co-founder and CEO at givestar said “givestar has quickly become the go-to fundraising platform for runners who want to maximise their impact. Tens of thousands of runners have already raised millions of pounds for charity on givestar, powered by technology proven to generate higher donations.”
The platform includes several features tailored for endurance athletes, including:
- The ability to fundraise for up to four charities simultaneously.
- Tap to Donate technology, which allows fundraisers to accept contactless donations via mobile devices. Givestar notes that these donations average 50% higher than standard online gifts.
- Integrated tools for sharing and community-driven storytelling.
The company has clarified that runners who have already started a fundraising page on a different platform are still eligible. Givestar can add existing donation totals from external sites to a new givestar page to help runners reach the £200 milestone required for the voucher.
Givestar is a B Corp that has processed more than £40 million in donations since it began operations. It currently works with over 3,000 charity partners and reports that it attracts more than 10,000 new givers to the platform each week.
The platform has previously supported endurance athletes through its Adventure for Good Grant. This programme has backed more than 60 individuals, helping them raise over £1.6 million for more than 100 charities.
To participate in the current marathon campaign, runners can visit the platform website, create a page with the MARATHON2026 code, and share their fundraising link with potential donors. Once the £200 target is met, the £100 Pro:Direct voucher is issued.
Possible items available via the voucher include the Nike Trail Aireez Jacket, currently priced at £69.99, or the adidas Women’s Run It Jacket at £54.99, leaving a remaining balance for accessories. The voucher can also cover the full cost of various footwear options within the Pro:Direct ‘Top Runners Under £100’ range.
