Cal Tri Events will host the fourth annual Cal Tri La Crema multisport event in Sonoma County, CA, on Sunday, June 28, 2026. Formerly known as La Crema Cal Tri Sonoma, the event weekend is title-sponsored by winery brand La Crema, which is owned by Kendall-Jackson, whilst health organisation Optimism serves as the series sponsor for Cal Tri Events.
The event weekend comprises preparation sessions alongside the main race schedule. Activities commence on Friday, June 26, 2026, with a skills camp at Johnson’s Beach starting at 07:30 PDT, which has 65 registered participants.
An evening gathering will take place at the La Crema Estate from 17:30 PDT to 20:30 PDT. On Saturday, June 27, 2026, an open-water swimming and transition clinic will be held at Johnson’s Beach at 07:30 PDT, with 169 athletes registered to attend.
The total registration for the main event has reached 791 participants. Demographically, the registered field consists of 52% male and 48% female athletes. The age range of competitors spans from 18 to 87 years old.
A post-registration survey of 791 athletes received 323 affirmative responses from participants confirming that the event would be their first multisport race, representing 41% of the total participants. Geographically, competitors are travelling from 18 states across the US, including Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, Washington, and New York, alongside international entrants from Switzerland.
The point-to-point race course features seven distinct event options, including Sprint and Olympic distances across triathlon, swim-bike, and swim-only categories, alongside a standalone 5k running event.
The swim portion takes place in the Russian River, starting at Johnson’s Beach in Guerneville, CA. Athlete gear bags will be transported from the start area and made available for collection at the finish line from 10:00 PDT.
The bike discipline follows River Road through the regional wine country terrain. The final run section runs through local vineyards, finishing directly at the La Crema Estate at Saralee’s Vineyard. Participants aged 21 and older will receive a complimentary wine pour at the conclusion of the race.
The delivery of the event is supported by public-private partnerships and local community groups, including Sonoma County, California Highway Patrol, Sonoma County Fire, Gold Ridge Fire, Windsor High School Cheer, and Lucid Motion Coaching.
