Well-being media platform Optimism has announced a three-year title sponsorship of the Cal Tri Events series, billed as the largest national fast course endurance race series in the USA.
The partnership brings together the media platform, which reaches more than 2 million subscribers, and the non-profit short-course triathlon series to deliver editorial coverage, training content, brand activations, and on-site experiences across the national USA race calendar.
Cal Tri Events operates as a 501(c)3 non-profit organisation with a national footprint across multiple time zones. The series hosts events in states such as California, Arizona, Texas, North Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland.
The race series offers 18 distinct race formats, ranging from youth sprints to Olympic distance triathlon events, designed to accommodate athletes at all levels of experience. On average, the event organiser reports that 50% of participants at any given Cal Tri Events race are competing in their first triathlon. The series also runs the Cal Tri Events Kids program, funded by the athlete community, which allows youth participants to race for free.
Nicholas Pardon, Founder & Chairman at Optimism, said “Optimism was built to serve people who take their well-being seriously – but ‘serious’ has never meant exclusive. Cal Tri Events was founded on the same belief: that the pursuit of a healthy, active life should be open to anyone ready to begin.
“The 10,000+ athletes that register annually in this community are living proof of what it looks like to invest in longevity not as a concept, but as a practice. That’s the community our brands were made for.”
Across the three-year agreement, Optimism will support the Cal Tri Events community through the editorial reach of its two flagship brands, All Healthy and Super Age. The platform will deliver digital content focused on athlete training, health, and daily well-being.
Optimism and Cal Tri Events will also co-develop expanded training content and programmes tailored to the diverse athlete demographics attracted to the series. On-site brand experiences and activations at races throughout the national calendar will aim to bring the media platform to life in person, while Optimism subscribers will be encouraged to participate in the events.
Thom Richmond, Founder, President & CEO of Cal-Tri, said “Our mission has always been to make triathlon safe, affordable, and accessible – and to serve our athletes well before, during, and long after race day. Optimism brings exactly the kind of expertise and community our athletes are looking for.
“This partnership means more resources, better preparation, and a richer experience for everyone who toes the starting line with us. That’s the kind of partnership we’ve always wanted to build.”
The multi-year activation will continue throughout the year, and this year will lead up to the series finale at Optimism Cal Tri Newport Dunes in Newport Beach, CA, on November 1, 2026. Initially established in 1978 as the Human Race Triathlon, the event is the longest-running triathlon in the world operating continuously from the same location.
As an organization, Optimism manages a portfolio of wellness and longevity brands with a focus on editorial integrity, newsletter design, and consumer connection. Cal Tri Events continues its focus on delivering affordable mass participation multi-sport events across the US market.
