The organisers of DATEV Challenge Roth in Germany have confirmed that the world’s largest long-distance triathlon will take place on July 4, 2027, maintaining its traditional slot on the first weekend of July.

TEAMCHALLENGE, the local organiser of the event, has once again worked alongside the IRONMAN team Germany to coordinate the dates for the two most significant German long-distance races.

While IRONMAN is yet to release a specific date for IRONMAN Frankfurt 2027, the coordination mentioned by the DATEV Challenge Roth team typically places the races one week apart to avoid a direct clash.

Historically, and as confirmed for the upcoming 2026 season, the races are scheduled as follows:

  • IRONMAN Frankfurt 2026: June 28, 2026
  • DATEV Challenge Roth 2026: July 5, 2026

Given that DATEV Challenge Roth 2027 is now confirmed for July 4, 2027, it is widely expected that IRONMAN Frankfurt will take place on June 27, 2027, following the established pattern of the final Sunday in June.

Continuing this collaborative process for 2027, is intended to minimise a clash and to provide reliability for athletes, media, fans, and expo exhibitors when planning their international race calendars.

Felix Walchshöfer, Race Director at DATEV Challenge Roth, said “Clear coordination of the dates for the major German triathlon races is crucial. My special thanks go to Felix Eing from IRONMAN for the always constructive exchange.

“The coordination between IRONMAN and us has been working excellently for many years. A big thank you also goes to the local authorities involved for their continuous support. Only together can we offer triathlon fans in Germany and worldwide the best possible experience.”

The registration timeline for the 2027 Challenge Roth event has also been established. On-site registration for 2027 will take place on July 6, 2026, which is the day after this year’s race.

For those not attending the event in person, online registration will open on July 13, 2026. TEAMCHALLENGE will also continue its ‘Late Entry Draw’ to allocate any remaining starting places to those who miss out during the initial registration windows.

DATEV Challenge Roth continues to see high demand, with the 2026 race, scheduled for July 5, 2026, reaching capacity within seconds of registration opening.

Based in Roth in southern Germany, the event is a cornerstone of the international triathlon circuit. It features a 3.8km swim, 180km bike leg, and a 42.2km run, attracting thousands of participants and ‘hundreds of thousands of spectators’ to the region.
