Long-distance triathletes Magnus Ditlev, Sam Laidlow and Kristian Høgenhaug have finalised an aerodynamic preparation process ahead of DATEV Challenge Roth.

The three elite athletes completed multiple testing blocks at the TEMPO wind tunnel facility operated by sports apparel brand FUSION Sportswear System in Denmark. Across a combined total of 15 athlete test days, the athletes evaluated more than 300 individual equipment and positional configurations.

The testing programme focused on identifying optimal race-day setups for each individual athlete. The evaluation process extended beyond trisuit selection to include bicycle positions, material testing, equipment interaction and overall aerodynamic efficiency.

According to FUSION Sportswear, the configurations were highly individualised to account for each athlete’s specific riding position, body shape, bicycle geometry and equipment partners.

The individual testing volume for each athlete comprised:

  • Magnus Ditlev: Six test days with 100 configurations evaluated
  • Sam Laidlow: Five test days with 119 configurations evaluated
  • Kristian Høgenhaug: Four test days with 85 configurations evaluated

According to the Danish company, the engineering process behind the race preparation involved extensive internal testing and textile development before and between the live athlete sessions, meaning the total development time exceeded the 15 days spent by the athletes in the facility.

FUSION intends to introduce new product technology at Challenge Roth this month, with subsequent technical developments scheduled for later in the 2026 season.

The exact aerodynamic data and specific wattage savings from the test blocks remain confidential to safeguard the competitive advantage of each individual athlete. Performance metrics and test insights are not shared between the competitors, ensuring that each athlete retains exclusive access to their own data.

Magnus Ditlev, Sam Laidlow and Kristian Høgenhaug enter the international long-distance event among the primary contenders for the victory, backed by detailed aerodynamic data preparation.

FUSION develops high-performance sportswear for endurance sports, incorporating an in-house wind tunnel, prototype studio and testing laboratory at its headquarters to accelerate apparel innovation.
