Giro d'Italia Dreaming in Pink docuseries makes debut on HBO Max

Filmmaster has confirmed the release of ‘Giro d’Italia. Il Sogno in Rosa (Dreaming in Pink)’, a new docuseries now available on HBO Max. The production, consisting of five episodes, explores the 108th edition of the Corsa Rosa with a focus on both the sporting competition and Italian cultural heritage.

The docuseries is now streaming on HBO Max, coinciding with the build-up to the 2026 Giro d’Italia, ahead of this year’s Grand Tour getting under way on May 8–31, 2026.

The series was produced by Filmmaster in collaboration with RCS Sports & Events, the organiser of the Giro d’Italia. It covers the intensity of the professional peloton, featuring the tactical battles and physical demands of the race. The narrative also includes archive footage to highlight historical figures of the sport, including Marco Pantani, Maurizio Fondriest, and Francesco Moser.

Filmed across various Italian landscapes, the docuseries follows the race through locations such as the trulli of Alberobello, the seafront of Naples, and the Leaning Tower of Pisa. It also features the white roads of Siena and the iconic finish at Piazza del Campo.

The final episode concludes in Rome and includes a first for the event, as the race enters the Vatican to be greeted by the Pope. The series aims to showcase the international reach of the event while maintaining its historical roots in Italy.

Paolo Bellino, CEO at RCS Sports & Events, said “This is a project of great strategic and cultural value for our event. It introduces a new narrative language for the Giro d’Italia – one that can engage a global audience while preserving the authenticity and depth that have always defined the Corsa Rosa.”

Bellino added “Through immersive storytelling, we step into the heart of the race, experiencing not only the sporting challenge but also the emotions, sacrifices, and personal stories of its protagonists. We are proud to bring this project to an international platform like HBO Max.”

The production comes as Filmmaster marks its 50th anniversary. Antonio Abete, CEO at Filmmaster, said “With ‘Dreaming in Pink’ we tell the story of a one-of-a-kind competition that is also a powerful expression of Italian culture and identity. This project embodies Filmmaster’s vision: to create authentic, internationally resonant content that brings together storytelling, sport, and territory.”

Abete continued “In a particularly meaningful year for us, as we mark our 50th anniversary, this production represents another step forward in our international growth and in our ability to showcase the very best of Italian creativity to the world.”
