The 2026 Experience Oman IRONMAN Pro Series moves to Australia on March 22, 2026, for the IRONMAN 70.3 Geelong triathlon. Following the series’ season opener in Taupō, New Zealand, more than 60 professional triathletes will compete in Corio Bay, Down Under, for a total prize purse of US$50,000.
The event serves as the second stop in the series, offering 2,500 points to the winners. Additionally, three qualifying slots per gender are available for the 2026 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship, scheduled to take place in Nice, France, on September 12–13, 2026.
The men’s field features a high–profile meeting between reigning IRONMAN 70.3 World Champion Jelle Geens and 2022 IRONMAN 70.3 World Champion Kristian Blummenfelt. The two athletes recently contested a close sprint finish at the 2025 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Marbella, Spain, where Jelle Geens secured the title by three seconds.
Geens, who is based on the Gold Coast, returns to Geelong as the defending champion. He also faces competition from Hayden Wilde, the 2024 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship runner–up and Olympic silver medallist. Kristian Blummenfelt enters the race shortly after finishing sixth at IRONMAN New Zealand earlier this month.
Other contenders in the men’s race include Pierre Le Corre, who recently finished second in his full distance debut, and Kyle Smith. The Australian contingent is led by Jake Birtwhistle, who finished second in Geelong last year, and Josh Ferris, who secured two IRONMAN 70.3 titles during the 2025 season.

In the women’s race, Kat Matthews headlines the field after winning IRONMAN New Zealand last weekend. Matthews currently leads the Experience Oman IRONMAN Pro Series standings and is a two–time IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship runner–up.
Matthews will be challenged by Tamara Jewett, who recently set a run course best at IRONMAN New Zealand, and Grace Thek. For Grace Thek, this marks her ninth consecutive appearance at IRONMAN 70.3 Geelong, an event she won in 2023.
The women’s professional start list also includes Australians Milan Agnew and Penny Slater, alongside international competitors Gabrielle Lumkes and Nina Derron.
