Strava introduces race and club event discovery features

Strava runners

Strava has confirmed the launch of a new Events tab within its in-app Groups experience, alongside a redesigned Club Organiser Hub.

As part of the update, Strava has linked up with its running training app Runna to integrate Runna’s global races database directly into the Strava interface, allowing users to discover upcoming events and access customised training plans.

The update is designed to bolster Strava’s community-focused features, which include clubs, group activities, and local events, while catering specifically to the preparation and race-day goals of its running user base.

The update introduces several new features:

  • Events Tab: A new sub-tab located within the Groups section of the app that displays upcoming group runs, rides, and competitive races tailored to an athlete’s physical activity history and geographical location.
  • Races Hub: An interactive directory within the Events tab where runners can browse and discover upcoming races that align with their training schedules, target distances, and personal goals.
  • Club Organiser Hub: A completely rebuilt web resource, located at strava.com/club-organisers, designed to provide new and existing club leaders with updated resources to help build, manage, and scale their communities.

The integration of the Runna database brings thousands of active global events directly onto the Strava platform. To help users navigate these listings, Strava has introduced several search filters.

Athletes can filter race options by distance, date, location, sport type, elevation profile, and average event temperature. Similarly, local Club Events can be filtered by date, location, event format, and distance to help users find suitable group activities in their local area.

The San Francisco-based company currently reports that it has a community of more than 195 million users across more than 185 countries, tracking various sports and athletic activities.
