Strong women’s pro athlete field at IRONMAN Hamburg European Championship

The first full-distance IRONMAN triathlon of the European season takes place in early June at IRONMAN Hamburg. Organised by The IRONMAN Group, the event acts as the professional women’s European Championship and serves as the sixth stop on the 2026 Experience Oman IRONMAN Pro Series circuit.

With over 30 female professional triathletes taking to the start line on June 7, 2026, each athlete will be racing for a slice of the US$87,500 pro purse prize and one of the six qualifying slots to the 2026 IRONMAN World Championship triathlon in Kona, Hawaii. The men’s European Championship will take place separately at IRONMAN Frankfurt on June 28, 2026.

Alongside the professional field, nearly 3,000 age-group athletes, both male and female, will also take to the start line, each competing for qualifying slots to the 2026 IRONMAN World Championship in Kona.

The race will be broadcast live, free for all international audiences across IRONMAN YouTube, ironman.com/proseries, and DAZN. Additional regional live broadcast and highlight shows will also be available, such as L’Équipe Live in France, ESPN within Disney+, SuperSport, hr-Fernsehen, NRD, RTVE, iQIYI, and Outside TV. Headlining the field is reigning champion Laura Philipp. Last year, Philipp set an IRONMAN triathlon best time of 08:03:13 as she secured her second victory in the city. All eyes will be on the German athlete to see if she can claim a hattrick in Hamburg on home soil.

IRONMAN World Champion Solveig Løvseth will also be returning to Hamburg after she came third in last year’s race, setting the fastest IRONMAN triathlon debut time of 08:12:28. Løvseth, who has had a successful start to the season already with a win at the Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas North American Championship triathlon and a second place at the Athletic Brewing IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside triathlon, currently sits in third place in the Experience Oman IRONMAN Pro Series.

Following her victory at the IRONMAN 70.3 Aix-en-Provence triathlon, Marjolaine Pierré will be looking to build on this success in her first IRONMAN triathlon of the season. Joining her, also following IRONMAN 70.3 Aix-en-Provence, is Lisa Perterer who finished 10th. Perterer had three podium finishes in the 2025 season and will be racing for her ticket to the IRONMAN World Championship triathlon in 2026.

The 2023 IRONMAN World Champion, Lucy Charles-Barclay is also featured on the start list but is expected to make a final decision on her participation following the Club La Santa IRONMAN Lanzarote triathlon.

India Lee will be making her season debut in Hamburg, following a strong 2025 season that included victories at the IRONMAN Les Sables d’Olonne–Vendée and IRONMAN 70.3 Tours Métropole – Loire Valley triathlons. She will be joined by compatriot Holly Lawrence, who placed 6th in her debut IRONMAN World Championship in the 2025 season and is also set to kick off her season in Hamburg.

Others to watch include Lotte Wilms, who won the 2025 IRONMAN Western Australia, Asia-Pacific Championship in this qualifying year and placed third at the ANZCO Foods IRONMAN New Zealand triathlon earlier in the season. Katrine Christensen, who placed second at the ISUZU IRONMAN South Africa African Championship triathlon, Franziska Hoffman, and Nina Deron are also on the start list.
