Sportgenic Torque delivers web based media buying platform

Sports marketing company Sportgenic has launched Sportgenic Torque, a web based platform for marketers to buy and sell sports related media including print, TV, online and events.

Through its new Sportgenic Torque platform the company feels its innovative technology will help connect brands to passionate sports enthusiasts, providing greater efficiency and transparency in sports marketing across all types of media.

Formerly called Active Athlete, San Francisco-based Sportgenic  was founded and is led by former 24/7 Real Media executive Robert Tas, who describes himself as a triathlon and marathon competitor who is "very passionate about sports."

"The process of building marketing campaigns that reach people in all the ways that they live, work and play is fractured and time consuming. We project that 2009 will be the end of the traditional ad network model in sports marketing, in favour of a more transparent and efficient approach," said Sportgenic CEO, Robert Tas. "Despite all of the innovations in marketing and technology, there has never been a way to effectively buy, sell and manage sports media across multiple formats in a single solution. Sportgenic Torque is the answer to that problem."

Using Sportgenic Torque, users can choose their preferred media types, including banners ads, mobile, print ads, event sponsorships and TV, amongst others. Users can also select demographic information including gender and household income of their target audiences. Torque provides ‘audience channels’, for further targeting, such as ‘active females’ and ‘endurance athletes’.

Sportgenic is currently in private beta phase and is accepting marketers and media partners who would like to participate.
