Wetsuit, apparel and accessories specialist blueseventy notes that this time of year in the Northern Hemisphere is a cold place for open water swimmers. Even the waters in the Southern Hemisphere can challenge our resolve to jump in. So, in an effort to make the open water a friendlier place, blueseventy has designed the Thermal Swim Glove.

We dropped the webbing for those swimmers seeking a natural feel of the water, added a longer length cuff to prevent water entry and increase warmth at the wrists, and we added a metal cell liner. Metal cell is a thin slice of silver neoprene that is glued to the jersey liner keeping the jersey from direct contact with the water.
According to blueseventy, water absorption therefore becomes non-existent; while warmth is maximized since the swimmer’s body has less water to heat. The metal cell is then coated with SCS neoprene to make sliding the gloves on and off easier.
While the new gloves are essentially positioned as great for open water specific training, blueseventy also found the ‘new neoprene Thermal Swim Gloves will keep your fingers dry and warm in foul bike riding weather.’
