American pro triathlon team USPro Tri is partnering with the eye-catching Falco bike brand for the 2014 season.
Sporting a Tron-style paint scheme when unveiled at last year’s Interbike show, the sci-fi look and feel of the company’s new Falco V certainly makes the bike a head-turner. Hailing from China, the company believes it has developed ‘the fastest TT bike on the market today.’
“We’re very excited to be partnering with an innovative, up-and-coming company,” said USPro Tri Team Manager Ryan Bates. “Though less than three years old, Falco has established itself as a brand committed to innovation and painstaking attention to quality.Our team members will be among the first athletes in North America on the Falco V, and we’re excited to help grow the brand here.”
USPro Tri will also be involved in the sales and promotion of Falco in the US, offering sale incentives and support for the brand’s products.
The USPro Tri team’s Falco bikes will be complemented by ENVE wheels in 2014, following a recently confirmed partnership with Utah-based ENVE Composites for the up-coming season.
Falco made a splash at Interbike 2013 with its revolutionary Falco V, a triathlon bike that eschews UCI rules with its radical design. The Falco V was ‘the result of over 1700 hours of research and development, and its UCI-illegal beam design is touted as one of the fastest frame designs available.’
After its claimed 1700 hours of R&D, the Falco V TT/triathlon bike is estimated save the rider ‘approximately 40 watts over a typical TT bike on the market today, and which translates into approximately 75 – 115 seconds saved in a 40km time trial.’
2013 was USPro Tri’s sixth year in existence, making it one of the longest-standing teams of its kind in the world. 2013 was a banner year for the team: USPro Tri members accounted for two podium finishes in Ironman races and sixteen top-10 finishes in Ironman 70.3 events.
Team members represented the top American finisher at many major races, and also posted many local and regional wins. Additionally, five team members qualified for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships by virtue of their standing in the 70.3 Points Rankings.
