tri for life will return on Sunday 6 September 2015, hosted once again in the grounds of Woburn Abbey, Bedfordshire, UK. This year will see Human Race Events become part of the fun, using its 25 years of triathlon event organization experience ‘to help develop the event into one of the UK’s premium triathlons befitting of the stunning location.’
“We know the Trustees of tri for life well and feel honoured to join forces with them to help develop their baby into a must do triathlon for all,” said Human Race Events CEO Nick Rusling. “The ethos of fund raising within the event also makes it special and helps provide an amazing atmosphere on event day. I can’t wait to be there.”
In addition to this partnership, the organisers are announcing a new name for the event ‘The Woburn Abbey Triathlon – presented by tri for life’.
Those signing up to swim, cycle and run for charity can choose from three distance options depending on how confident they feel. The short route triathlon starts with a 400m swim, followed by a 22.1K bike and 5K run. The medium distance ups the stakes by requiring 800m of swimming, 32.5K on bike and a 7.5K run to finish.
The final triathlon option for participants is a 1500m swim, 42.9K bike, 10k run. Each of the routes can be completed as an individual or as a team of 2 or 3 people.
Whichever route is picked athletes will start by entering the picturesque lake and completing between one and three 400m laps. After the swim it’s time to head over to transition which sits in the shadow of the magnificent Abbey.
The cycle section will once again be closed roads this year, taking in much of the glorious Woburn Abbey grounds. Competitors will finish as is traditional with a run, which has been re-routed for 2015 to make it a flatter and faster final leg.
One of the many things that make tri for life special is that every participant requires sponsorship to take part. Thanks to this model close to £300,000 was raised for charity in 2014, with the target to break the lifetime total of £2,000,000 in 2015. A kid’s Duathlon and kid’s Scootathlon will also be held for those younger members of the family who would like to join in with the fundraising fun.
Marcus Anselm, Trustee of tri for life, added “The ethos of tri for life is simple. Provide a fantastic multisport challenge for the whole family and raise significant sums of money for our fabulous charity partners, Rays of Sunshine and Great Ormond Street Children’s Charity. Partnering with Human Race is another significant step in the pursuit of our growth and development as an event and a charity.”
