Launched last year at Eurobike in Germany, CeramicSpeed’s Oversized Pulley Wheel System, billed as the ‘only 17-tooth pulley wheel system’ and the ‘world’s fastest pulley wheel system’, has scooped an award at Taipei Cycle.
Reviewed for its tech function, design and innovative contribution to the biking experience, the CeramicSpeed Oversized Pulley Wheel System has been announced at the Taipei Cycle Show, as a winner of the Taipei d&i Awards.
Besides beinga choice of World Tour teams such as Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka at the Tour Down Under in January, the Oversized Pulley Wheel (OSPW) System was acknowledged for its technological advancements at the Taipei Cycle d&i awards.
Looking to find some of the most innovative products and the finest designs in the cycling world for the new season, this coveted award gathered entries from all over the world.
Amongst the winners, the CeramicSpeed OSPW System was chosen for its ‘level of innovation, the quality of the design, workmanship, choice of materials, functionality, safety and its impact on improving performance when riding.’
The prize was awarded at the Taipei Cycle Pre-Show Press Conference.
Engineered to answer an increasing demand for less friction and speed, the OSPW System is billed as ‘a true advancement in cycling performance’. It consists of 17-tooth alloy pulley wheels fitted with CeramicSpeed bearings, a specially designed lightweight cage made from polyamide and carbon fibre, finished with titanium bolts.
Compatible with Shimano Ultegra/Dura Ace 10s and 11s both electronic and mechanical, this innovative system is ‘proven to reduce friction in the pulleys by 60%, or more in some cases.’ It delivers watt savings from 2.4 watts and a 3-5 times longer lifetime compared to the most commonly used high-end 11s stock pulleys.
Nathan Haas of Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka said “I never imagined that something so standard on every bike could be reinvented and make such a clear difference in feeling. Changing from 11 to 17 teeth makes quite a difference and it is funny to see how CeramicSpeed has raised the game against the current trend for everything to be smaller, more streamlined with the development of the OSPW system.”
He continued, “This system can be the whole difference when it counts. It has been wonderful being one of the first to get its advantage, because soon I fear, it will become the standard. But before that is the case, I hope to squeeze out some results with it!”
The entries from the competition will be on display at the 2016 Taipei Cycle Show, from 2-5 March on the first floor of the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, as well as on the CeramicSpeed booth L1308.
Professional cycling teams such as Team Tinkoff-Saxo, Astana Pro Team and MTN Qhubeka, to name a few, ride with CeramicSpeed products. Additionally, CeramicSpeed products are the choice of some of the world’s leading triathletes such as Frederik Van Lierde, Craig Alexander, Leanda Cave, Gwen Jorgensen, Tyler Butterfield, and Tim Don amongst others.
The company’s products are used as OEM parts by some of the world’s leading manufacturers of bicycles and bicycle gear. In addition, they are distributed worldwide and can be found in over 25 countries.
