Targeting 10,000 runners, renewed Palma de Mallorca Marathon 2016 gets up to speed

Palma de Mallorca Marathon

The Palma de Mallorca Marathon is being presented in its latest edition – which will take place on 16 October 2016 at Palma’s Forum CaixaBank. The event organizing team at Kumulus note that the event is presenting several improvements for its thirteenth edition, which will aim to boost the participants’ experience.

A new design for the expo and the race pack pick-up area is expected to be quicker; and also the adjoining 10K race will start a few minutes later, at 09:40 CET – 40 minutes after the start of the main marathon and half-marathon, in order to give more room on course for the participating athletes.

Last year’s edition gathered more than 9,000 runners between its three different distances; and the organisers expect to get over 10,000 participants in 2016. A renewed route, running next to the Mediterranean Sea and through the old town, was approved by the Real Federación de Atletismo Española and it is positioned as one of the main attractions for runners descending on Mallorca from more than 40 different countries.

There are notably more participants from the UK and Germany than from Spain. In addition, there is participation from countries such as Sweden, Italy, the Netherlands, Denmark, Switzerland, Belgium and more; which helps to make the Palma de Mallorca Marathon an ‘international run’.

The Palma de Mallorca Marathon is organized by Kumulus, with Palma’s City Hall cooperation.
