The TOUGHMAN Half Iron series has announced the addition of its third international race, the TOUGHMAN Costa Rica Half Iron triathlon.
This follows the announcement of the first TOUGHMAN Chile Antofagasta Half Iron triathlon, to be held on 7 August 2016, and the TOUGHMAN Mexico Fuga de Isla de Sacrificios Half Iron triathlon, to take place in Veracruz, Mexico on 2 April 2017.
The TOUGHMAN Costa Rica Half Iron triathlon will take place in Puerto Viejo on 21 October 2017.
Set amongst beaches and national parks, Puerto Viejo is billed as a great place for a race vacation. Visitors have the opportunity to explore two national parks, the Refugio Nacional de Vida Silvestre Gandoca-Manzanillo and the Cahuita National Park. Alternatively, they can pursue a wide variety of water sports at the many local beaches.
Qualifiers from the TOUGHMAN Costa Rica triathlon will be able to compete in the TOUGHMAN Half Iron International Championship in New York in 2018.
“Adding the TOUGHMAN Costa Rica to our series means that athletes from Mexico, Chile and South/Central America can compete for a spot at the TOUGHMAN New York World Championship race in September,” said TOUGHMAN founder Richard Izzo.
“We continue to grow in both popularity and the number of races because we represent grass roots triathlon but with a standardized format. Athletes that register for a TOUGHMAN race know that they will get a safe, great race experience at every TOUGHMAN venue. Having a brand that caters specifically to age groupers and families is good for the sport.”
Registration for all races is open at TOUGHMANTri.com.
