2,500 entries and 50 qualifying slots for the 2018 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship are up for grabs, for those athletes interested in IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia, Poland. Next year’s race in ‘the sunniest city in Poland’ is scheduled for 6 August 2017. Registration starts on 1 December, with the basic entry fee pitched at €165.
Currently, a pre-registration process is in progress – as part of a cross-promotion initiative between IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia and 5150 Warsaw. “We expect around 500 entries to be sold in the pre-registration process,” says Piotr Jakóbik, Race Organizer. “This means there should be around 1,000 entries for €165 EUR available on December 1st.”
The event pricing is as follows:
First 1,500 slots – €165
Next 500 slots – €195
Remaining 500 slots – €225
The organising team note that the cheapest entries are usually sold out within a few hours so interested athletes are advised to be quick. Regular registration starts on Thursday 1 December at 20:00 CET.
IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia is billed as a benchmark triathlon event in the Central & Eastern Europe region, with 3,800 athletes taking part in the main race and the side events (sprint, relays & IRONKIDS) in 2016.
The race combines swimming in the Gdansk Bay and a picturesque bike course leading through the hilly Kashubia region with running on the sea boulevards and main streets of Gdynia. The race journey is completed at the ‘one-of-its-kind finish area located at the main city beach, with thousands of enthusiastic fans filling up the tribunes.’
Gdynia itself is referred to as ‘the city made of dreams and the sea’. Located at Gdansk Bay, the city is known for its love for sports as well as its dynamically developing cargo port. It is a popular holiday destination, which comes as no surprise as Gdynia is ‘the sunniest Polish city’, according to a research.
