Evans’s store expansion continues with new outlet in South London

Evans Cycles, ‘the UK’s leading specialist bike shop’, has today announced the opening of a new store in Sutton, London.

As the retailer’s fourth new opening in the last three months, and the sixth this year… ‘the new branch represents a strong commitment to meet rising demand for cycling and supporting the nation’s growing number of riders.’

The Evans Cycles Sutton store can be found within the Times Square shopping centre, a few minutes walk from Sutton Station. As a Greater London borough with many of its residents commuting into the city and its surrounding areas, Sutton has a growing number of cycle commuters.

The new store opening comes at an opportune time – with Sutton Council having recently been awarded almost £1 million from the Mayor of London’s Streetspace programme to help create new space for cycling and walking.

With over 4,560 square feet, the new store will stock over 155 bikes for customers to see in person as well as the latest products from some of the world’s best brands. This includes road, MTB, hybrid, electric and kids bikes from Trek, Specialised, Cannondale, Raleigh and Pinnacle; folding bikes from iconic British manufacturer Brompton; and a wide range of autumn and winter clothing from the likes of Castelli, GORE, FOX, and Endura.

The store also comes complete with a fully equipped workshop and Shimano Service Center – offering mechanical assistance and quick turnarounds with Evans Cycles’ new 24 Hour Servicing Pledge.

Customers at the new Sutton store will also have access to Click & Collect, free test rides and Evans Cycles’ Ride to Work Scheme.

As a transport provider bicycle shops are listed as essential retailers on the UK Government’s official guidance. In line with all Evans Cycles shops, strict safety measures have been introduced in the new store including limiting how many customers can enter at any given time, marking out ‘2 metre zones’ throughout the shop floor and eradicating touch points within the payment process.

As in all shops around the UK, it is also mandatory for customers to wear a face covering within the store unless they have a medical exemption.

As well as helping large numbers of the public now turning to two-wheeled transport, Evans Cycles continue to provide free bike MOTs to key workers throughout the pandemic. This service will continue at the new Sutton branch meaning key workers – like hospital staff at the Royal Marsden and St Helier – can have their tyres pumped up, brakes adjusted and access mechanical advice free of charge.

Commenting on the opening of the new store, Matthew Atkinson, Head of Retail at Evans Cycles, said “I’m thrilled to today announce the opening of our brand new Sutton store. As a predominantly bricks and mortar business, we have faced a number of challenges over the past year but have worked extremely hard to not only survive during this period but grow our offering to better support the rising number of cyclists.”

He continued, “Sutton has shown a strong willingness to change the status quo and improve the infrastructure for cycling and walking within the area. We firmly believe that cycling will play an increasingly vital role in the way we move as a nation in years to come, and look forward to helping Sutton’s community ‘Enjoy the Ride’.”

Monday – Saturday: 09:00 – 18:00
Sunday: 10:00 – 17:00
Bank Holidays: 10:00 – 17:00
