‘Dreams cannot be cancelled’ mantra at DATEV Challenge Roth

‘Dreams cannot be cancelled’ is the motto of DATEV Challenge Roth after the Covid-related cancellation of the 2020 event. Going forwards, the event team notes that its focus is on developing… ‘a health initiative to protect athletes, spectators and volunteers during race week as well as the launch of new virtual events for all friends of triathlon and endurance sports.’

Together with the German Triathlon Union (DTU), Team Challenge is currently working on an extensive health initiative to ‘make the dreams of the athletes, fans and volunteers come true.’

“It goes without saying everyone’s health comes first,” said Felix Walchshöfer, Managing Director of Team Challenge. “For DATEV Challenge Roth 2021 we will create the best possible environment to guarantee the safety of athletes, volunteers, spectators and the local population.”

Scheduled for July 4, 2021, DATEV Challenge Roth 2021 will host the German and European Long Distance Triathlon Championships as a ‘pilot project for a health initiative in triathlon’. Following the event next summer, ‘other events will be able to benefit from the findings of the project.’

The agency APA Brands Solution, which is also commissioned by the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), is helping to develop hygiene and infection protection guidelines for events and sports associations. It is involved in creating the health concept for Challenge Roth, which will be certified after completion.

‘Between now and the next race, for the first time the Walchshöfer family and the rest of the team is planning virtual events that can easily take place during these Covid times.’

“We know many dreams have been shattered this year, and not only for DATEV Challenge Roth participants,” said Felix Walchshöfer. “Almost all endurance sports events have been cancelled this year. We would like to give these people motivation again in the Corona age and to strengthen the Challenge feeling.

“We have a lot to reveal: we haven’t been idle over the last few months and will be offering our first virtual experience for amateur and competitive athletes and professionals in the next few weeks to give everyone an emotional highlight at the end of the year.”
