Digital expansion by Eurobike team, starts with a look at e-sports

From show exhibitors, to visitors, media operators and social media followers – Messe Friedrichshafen notes that it is ‘interacting with an audience of millions all-year round.’

The team behind leading bike industry trade show, Eurobike, notes that there is increased demand for moving images and streaming services. With this in mind, Messe Friedrichshafen has set up a digital studio to create new opportunities for more varied digital communication to accompany its events.

Eurobike (scheduled this year for September 1-4, 2021) is expanding its digital footprint under the Eurobike Insights platform. This aims to present on-trend industry-specific topics and use the ‘latest technology to create new impulses.’

To kick things off at the start of April, a new Eurobike Insights talk and moving-image series will be looking at the international trend topic of e-cycling.

Eurobike notes that e-cycling is well established and here to stay. Increasing numbers of professional cyclists are clocking up thousands of kilometres within their own four walls – a development further fuelled by the pandemic.

‘Cycling in virtual environments is becoming more and more a mass phenomenon with some 1.5 million riders meeting up on Zwift & Co to take part in virtual training or races.’

Analysing the home training trend, ARD sports presenter Bernd-Uwe Gutknecht will be talking to:

  • Smart trainer expert Frank Jeniche,
  • Athletes on bike trainers Fiona Schröder and Thore Perske,
  • The digital head coach of the German Cycling Federation, Tim Böhme,
  • GCA coordinator Christoph Kont, and
  • Head of Eurobike Stefan Reisinger.

The talk will be asking if e-cycling has the potential to become an international trend. The bike community is invited to take part and can submit questions. These will be discussed during the show when the first episode of EUROBIKE Insights will be streamed on April 1, via Eurobike’s communication channels.

“E-cycling is stimulating the bike industry in many different ways and will play a new and important role at EUROBIKE 2021,” said Stefan Reisinger. “With Eurobike Insights, we will be taking a regular look behind the scenes in the bicycle industry at the topics that drive it – both at present and in the future.

“As such, this exciting digital format will attract interest and attention both inside and beyond the community.”

Together with its service partner TVR from Ravensburg, Germany, Messe Friedrichshafen is offering its customers the opportunity to use the studio. This may for live-streams or videos, short interviews or full conferences, podium discussions, digital seminars or product presentations.

“This new studio service provides both our customers and ourselves opportunities for enhanced communication,” said Klaus Wellmann, CEO at Messe Friedrichshafen.

“In these times of Covid-19 and beyond, it will be important to communicate with moving images to strengthen customer links and effectively promote business contacts. Our digital events have shown the way.

“We successfully communicated selected topics from our trade show portfolio around the world and, as such, have reached the industry, connected business partners and put customers in contact with one another during these challenging times.

“By using the ideal combination of online, hybrid and live events, we are a multi-platform operator and continuing to pursue our corporate strategy.”
