From bike to run: new running analysis features on TrainerRoad

Having built a footprint in cycle coaching, TrainerRoad has expanded into the running space. TrainerRoad users can now upload and analyze running activities on the platform.

As the company notes… ‘Simply connect your Strava or Garmin Connect accounts to TrainerRoad and the work is done automatically for you.’

Once the necessary connection has been made, all running activities that are uploaded to Strava or Garmin Connect are now visible on a user’s TrainerRoad calendar, including runs you’ve done in the past.

For those who have a running activity scheduled on their calendar, this will automatically be associated the run activity that is uploaded for that day, matching how this works for cycling activities in TrainerRoad.

Weekly run mileage can also be tracked on the calendar. Users can also drill into their runs and use some of TrainerRoad’s analytics tools from cycling.

As the company points out… ‘If your run has power on it, we’ll automatically bring it in and display it on your ride detail page where you can analyze every lap of your runs, including pace, power, cadence, heart rate, speed, and more.

‘With today’s release, we’re better supporting our multi-sport athletes, but are there many of them? This might surprise you, but our athletes have uploaded more than 40,000,000 runs and have racked up enough miles to run around the earth over 8,118 times.’

  • Total runs: 40,980,200
  • Total distance: 202,170,998 miles / 323/473,597 km
