Whilst there is no official manufacturers’ competition UCI Cycling World Championships, according to bike firm Canyon… ‘the collective results of Canyon athletes in Scotland has left the company in no doubt about the value professional sports performance brings towards product innovation.’
Spanning 11 days (August 3-13, 2023), the first-ever multi-disciplinary UCI World Championships took place with more than 2,600 athletes competing in over 200 events.
In 44 of those events, Canyon athletes notched up a haul of 12 gold medals in road, time trial, cross country, marathon, downhill and track-pursuit – and altogether recorded 23 podium places.
A release from Canyon added that… ‘Although disciplines such as BMX, Trials, Indoor Cycling and other Track competitions aren’t included in that list, the medal tally puts Canyon unofficially at the top of the list for the many of blue riband events, a testament to Canyon’s commitment to innovation and performance.’
In mountain bike competitions, Canyon’s Lux World Cup and Sender CFR helped secure three gold medals. Whilst in road and track competitions, the Aeroad CFR and the new Speedmax CFR Track, which was developed with input from Chloe Dygert, bettered that with nine gold medals.
