The 2024 Life Time Grand Prix application window is now open until October 25, 2023, for interested elite athletes.
The Life Time Grand Prix featured 70 pro athletes in 2023. The field size was expanded in 2023, with 35 women and 35 men competing for a US$250,000, equally-split prize purse.
The application window is earlier in the year this time around. Life Time noted that athletes wanted to know sooner if they were in the series or not so that they could use that info in sponsorship negotiations.
New for 2024
- The top 15 finishers in the 2023 series who reapply will be invited into the 2024 series.
- 30 men and 30 women will be admitted into the 2024 series. This is the same as 2022 but less athletes than 2023.
- International athletes will be required to show that they have proper travel visas to be in the US for the full series.
- The prize purse is increased to US$300,000 and will be paid to the top 10 men and women. The exact payout scheme is still being decided. Crusher in the Tushar, Chequamegon MTB Festival, and Sea Otter Classic all have individual prize purses as well.
- Elite men and women will start separately at all Grand Prix races.
Same as 2023
- 2024 will consist of seven of Life Time’s off-road races, three of which are cross-country mountain bike races and three of which are gravel.
- 2024 events are: the Fuego XL at Sea Otter, Unbound Gravel, Crusher in the Tushar, Leadville Trail 100 MTB, Chequamegon MTB Festival, The Rad Dirt Fest, and Big Sugar Gravel.
- Participants must start five of the seven events in order to be eligible for an overall prize. Riders will be scored on their five best finishes.
- Random doping controls may occur at any event in the series.
- Big Sugar Gravel is mandatory and serves as the tie-breaker in the event of a points tie.
- Life Time will pay all entry fees for the athletes.
- Performance in off-road events is the primary factor in selecting the athletes, as it was last year.
Applications for 2024 close at 23:59 CDT on October 25, 2023. Selected athletes will be notified on November 7, 2023. The application is available online and on lifetimegrandprix.com.
