Atlanta Track Club, the second-largest running club in the United States, has partnered up with race timing technology specialist MYLAPS.
Both parties have signed a long-term partnership agreement. Atlanta Track Club will also be supported at its key races by The Last Mile Racing, which is also the timer of record at events including the Boston Marathon, the Houston Marathon, and the Chicago Marathon.
Atlanta Track Club is a member-based organization that delivers events, training programs and community outreach activities to the Metro Atlanta area. Its flagship event is the AJC Peachtree Road Race, billed as ‘the world’s largest 10k’, which takes place on July 4. The race has become a citywide tradition in which some of the world’s top professional athletes lead more than 50,000 participants through the streets of Atlanta.
Atlanta Track Club has opted for MYLAPS BibTag technology. According to MYLAPS… ‘This is the standard timing system for mass events with affordable chips and the highest read-rates in the industry.’
MYLAPS BibTag was used in October at the Chicago Marathon when Kelvin Kiptum broke the marathon world record. The MYLAPS ThinTag is also 75% thinner than regular tags resulting in less waste and shipment space, saving on carbon emissions.
“We are excited to work together with the global leader in sports timing,” said Rich Kenah, CEO at Atlanta Track Club. “Atlanta Track Club is committed to implementing green initiatives that reduce waste, promote sustainability, and support the local community of Atlanta to be more active and live healthier.
“We want to use a best-in-class timing system with the best read rates for all our events with additional support from an experienced, industry veteran like The Last Mile Racing.”
Camiel Slaats, CEO at MYLAPS, said “Our Americas office is based in Atlanta, so this partnership feels like a natural fit. Next to that, MYLAPS strives to offer the ultimate sports experience to athletes, followers, and events, with respect to the environment.
“MYLAPS is a carbon neutral company that has a lot of shared values with Atlanta Track Club. We are excited to be their partner and work together for the coming years.”
