Event organiser IMG has confirmed the full schedule for the 2025 Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon, with the race weekend set to take place in San Francisco on May 30 – June 1.
The main age-group and elite athlete Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon returns on Sunday, June 1, with 2,000 athletes expected to take on one of the sport’s most demanding courses.
Racing action will begin the day before, on Saturday, May 31, with a professional field racing in the T100 San Francisco event – a stop on the Professional Triathletes Organisation’s T100 Triathlon World Tour.

The Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon set for June 1, with the T100 pro race on the preceding day, sees San Francisco hosting an endurance sport weekend that also features a community run and fitness expo.
Race weekend schedule
Friday, May 30
A community shakeout run and panel discussion will take place from 18:00-20:00 PT at Sports Basement Presidio. Hosted in partnership with Golden Gate Tri Club, Bay Area Run Club, and the PTO, the session includes a 5K run followed by a discussion on triathlon and the San Francisco course.
Saturday, May 31
The San Francisco leg of the T100 Triathlon World Tour begins at 06:00 PT, with the men’s race followed by the women’s at 06:45 . The event will feature Olympians and world champions, with coverage available via livestream at t100triathlon.com/san-francisco.
Sunday, June 1
The Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon will start at 07:00, with 2,000 athletes taking on a 1.5-mile swim from Alcatraz Island, followed by an 18-mile bike course and an 8-mile run through the city’s hills. Collegiate athletes from UC Berkeley, UC San Francisco, Stanford University, and others will take part in the Collegiate ESCAPE division race, along with relay teams and para-athletes.
Fitness festival and expo
Marina Green will serve as the race weekend hub, hosting a complimentary two-day Fitness Festival & Expo open to the public. Brand activations will include official merchandise, giveaways, food trucks, and a beer and wine garden. VIP ticket holders will have access to catered hospitality and prime finish line viewing.
