World Triathlon, the international governing body for the Olympic and Paralympic sport of triathlon, has announced a change of venue for its Brazil World Cup event, which will now be held in Florianópolis, on November 15-16, 2025.
The change of venue comes after the original Brasília World Cup, scheduled for October 25-26, was cancelled due to scheduling conflicts.
The World Triathlon Executive Board has also given the go-ahead for a women-only triathlon event in Dubai on December 7, 2025. The race is part of an initiative to promote gender equality and inclusion in triathlon, especially in the Middle East region.
In other news, the organisation’s Event Organisers Conference will take place in Tongyeong, South Korea, on November 14, 2025. The conference, organised in cooperation with the Korean Triathlon Federation and the city of Tongyeong, will focus on event sustainability.
The new host city for the World Cup event in Brazil, Florianópolis, is located in the state of Santa Catarina in southern Brazil. World Triathlon notes that the Jurerê Internacional area offers a suitable setting for hosting a World Cup event with its infrastructure and history of hosting triathlon races.
Racing in Florianópolis will be contested over the sprint distance format, consisting of a 750m swim, a 20km bike leg, and a 5km run.
The Florianópolis World Cup will conclude the South American block of World Cups, which provides athletes with a series of racing opportunities. The series will start with the Viña del Mar (Chile) World Cup on November 2, followed by the San Pedro de la Paz (Chile) World Cup on November 9, before finishing in Florianópolis.
The World Triathlon Executive Board also approved the addition of a Para Cup to the schedule of the San Pedro de la Paz event, providing paraathletes from the American continent an opportunity to earn ranking points before the end of the 2025 season.
